Bourque Metal company was founded in Sherbrooke by Mr. Alcide Bourque in 1966. When the company first started, a single factory handled from 20 to 300 tons of metals per year.
A Second Factory
Mr. Bourque's constant desire to meet the needs of his customers and suppliers led him to expand Bourque Metal’s territory after a few years of operation. That's why he built a second plant in 1989, this time in the Bromont area. His younger son, Ghyslain, who was then in his twenties, was responsible for managing this site.
A Positive from a Negative
In July 1998, following a major fire, the Sherbrooke plant had to move to the municipality of Saint-Élie-d'Orford. This devastating incident, however, had a positive effect on the company, which took the opportunity to build new premises in order to respond more appropriately to customer requests and thus generate more appropriate management of the different operations. At the same time, the outdoor courtyard was refitted to facilitate some of the work. The overall changes made in the process of rebuilding the plant allowed for numerous efficiencies, which are as good for us as they are advantageous for the customers.
A Company That Has Become a Leader
Through constant updates of its equipment and working methods, Bourque Metal has gained a reputation over the years for its great expertise and renowned quality. The company has earned a top-notch reputation, thanks in large part to its teams’ dedication to customers and ability to meet deadlines. This is why Bourque Metal continues to make every effort so that its customers and business partners can obtain the most profitable results.
A New President
Over time, most of the operations went to the parent company in Brigham. Ghyslain Bourque has held the position of president of the company since 2016. The third generation of the family is planning to take the reins to ensure the future of Bourque Metal.
